Music Alive has a fantastic team of dedicated volunteers helping with all aspects of the running of the charity, from workshops to administration to fundraising. Volunteering is a great opportunity to learn and grow, to have fun, to gain training and to enjoy making use of the excellent musical facilities.
'Musician volunteers need for the following sessions. Additional volunteers are desirable at other times so if you would like to be a session volunteer but aren't available at the above times, please still get in touch'.

FAQ:
How often will I come to the sessions?
As often as you like or are able. It is best to come at a regular time/day so that you help in the same sessions(s) and can get to know the participants in a session.

How long are the sessions?
From half an hour to an hour and a half.

Will I have to cope on my own?
No. There will always be experienced workers and volunteers with you. Disabled people often come with their own carers who attend to their personal needs.

What will I be expected to do in the sessions?
This depends very much on you. If you are happy just making drinks and helping everyone to feel comfortable, that is very valuable. If you are able to join in the sessions by drumming, singing or playing an instrument, that is also great.

Do I need to have any previous experience of care work or disabled people?
No. You will only need an open mind to the possibilities of how music can be a tool for personal development and a willingness to be part of that journey.

Do I need to be able to read music or play an instrument?

Any number of things. Enjoyment. Satisfaction. Confidence. Enhanced musical ability. A sense of sharing. The knowledge that you are helping to improve someone else's life by having fun through music.
