Sessions for Everyone

Saturday Sessions are group events open to anyone, of all abilities aged between 9 and 99 years old. Sessions are held every Saturday from 1 – 2pm and the focus changes each week.

Sessions include:
Drum Circle – Led by Martin and Debbie, these sessions are an opportunity to use any type of percussive instrument from across the world! You might like to try djembes from Africa, gathering drums from North America, egg shakers or maybe agogos from Latin America. You do not need to have any prior experience of drumming—just come along and feel the rhythm!

Tech Jam – In this session, we play music that has to be plugged in to be heard – anything from electronic tablets, phones, soundbeam and keyboards to electric guitars using wawa pedals and switches. At the sessions, you will learn how to make music using a variety of different electronic techniques – come along and be inspired!

Singing Group – These are led by Linda of Swindon Community Choir. At these sessions, we sing a mix of new and old songs and experiment with our voices. We sometimes sing acapella or accompanied by the guitar or even an ipad. We welcome all standards of singing and the main requirement is an interest to meet people and have fun through music!

Taster sessions – On the final Saturday of each month, we hold our Taster session. This is an opportunity for us to get to know you and what you want to do musically. It is ideal for people who have never been to Music Alive before or if you aren’t sure what you are interested in.

Instruments are available or bring your own. Space is limited, please book in advance to secure your place.
Cost: £5 (Assistants don’t pay)
